Why would you talk about somebody a lot?

The other week my friend (who also happens to be my crush but thats imaterial) was ill so I went to her house to see her, since then other friends of ours have said "oh Madina I hear that you were up visiting Carolyn", Carolyn has told friends of ours this but why does she feel the need to tell people about something so trivial? Also at work she talks to people about me and tells them when we are going out for meals and things.
