Getting duller by the dozen...?
First of all, don't worry. You're not neurotic at all. We are all affected by our environment. You are still the same person you were 11 months ago. You currently just have no opportunity to socialize, no outlets of expression, and not much to keep your mind active. Once you hit NY, your old self WILL be back, don't worry. It's just a shame someone as smart and creative as you had to spend nearly a year living like someone in prison. Until you go to NY: don't you at least have internet. I guess probably not if you're in Pakistan. If you do have web access, just try to be as social as you can there. Otherwise, just try to make the best of your isolation: read, take up a new hobby, like someone suggested guitar or anything else that keeps you occupied. Do you like listening to shortwave radio? I grew up in an isolated place before the internet, and I started listening to shortwave: BBC, Radio Netherlands, Deutsche Welle, when I was 12 because I was like you: bored out of my mind. I ended up learning to speak German and Russian by the time I was 24 because of the interest in them that I got from shortwave radio, and this interest resulted in me studying these languages in college. You just have to go out and look for things to keep your mind active. It sounds like it isn't easy to do where you are, but apply yourself! School starts in just a few months, and you'll be in NY, which is like no place else. Best of luck to you and with your studies this fall.
