How does rejection affect one's overall quality of life?

I don't find it strange or negative. I think you're right, that people need someone who can have a unique relationship with them. The problem is the word unique, and the fact that you are unique. Well, I say problem, but really it's just fact. A lot of people share the same attributes and can have a good or normal relation with others but the thing that makes it hard to find "that special someone" is that we want to find someone who can understand us and our uniqueness, what makes the way we view the world different. And that takes a unique personality all in it's own, and for each of us it requires we find our own special match. I wouldn't say you haven't found that yet because you are unattractive, just because you are different in a way no one has been really able to see through yet. I'd say keep looking, you'll find that one person yet!
